Change Healthcare announced a new partnership with Cardiobase®, a web-based, scalable information system for cardiology service management. The system will integrate with the company’s end-to-end Change Healthcare Cardiology™ portfolio to provide customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland with a complete cardiology workflow solution offering scheduling, specialist clinics reports, ordering management, customised reports, and a wireless pacemaker interface with reporting.
A wide range of interfaces streamline communication within the cardiology department, from keeping electronic provider directories current to reducing double entry of bookings in the patient administration system. The Cardiobase solution offers DICOM modality worklists for neurology, vascular, cardiology, and respiratory care, sending results back to the electronic patient record. Billing interfaces with the hospital finance system helps improve billing capture, while ordering interfaces enable the Change Healthcare Cardiology system to stay current with the hospital’s electronic medical record.
The wireless pacemaker interface will allow customers to access relevant clinical information almost immediately from anywhere within a Trust. All reports from the pacemaker programmers, including home monitoring reports, can be pulled into the system’s reporting module for immediate viewing anywhere within the Trust. As a result, the entire department can adopt a paperless workflow.
Integration with Cardiobase will also allow Change Healthcare to develop bespoke solutions for its cardiology customers, creating specialty clinics for tilt testing, phlebotomy, and respiratory care, among other potential needs. For example, a cardiology customer that wants to create a TAVI clinic may require special datasets to be built to support its registry.
As a fully integrated CVIS solution, the Cardiobase/Change Healthcare Cardiology solution supports a wide variety of U.K. cardiovascular registries, including the NICOR registry, TAVI registry, and BCIS registry. The integrated solution also supports British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) compliance for Echo reporting.
By automating data flow, streamlining workflows, and reducing clinicians’ manual work, the integrated solution will help to improve efficiencies across the cardiovascular service line.
